TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays were swept in the Bronx last week and will try to return the favour Wednesday versus the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre. Jason Kidd Jersey . The Blue Jays lost all three games at Yankee Stadium from June 17-19, but have taken the first two installments of this set, including Tuesdays 7-6 win courtesy of a throwing error by Yankees third baseman Yangervis Solarte in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jose Reyes started the inning with a double and came around to score after Melky Cabrera placed a bunt toward Solarte, whose throw to first base was off the mark. Reyes made up for a throwing error that plated two runs during a five-run seventh inning for the Yankees. Brian Roberts hit a two-run homer in the seventh to help New York tie the game at 6-6. "I tried to make something happen after that mistake," said Reyes. "They tied the game there in that situation. I have to make a better throw than that. It is what it is. Like I said, when I came up in the ninth inning I just tried to make something happen." Dioner Navarro hit a three-run homer, Colby Rasmus drove in two runs and both Reyes and Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and two runs scored for the Blue Jays, who have won three of their last five games, and sit 2 1/2 games ahead of Baltimore and 3 1/2 games in front of New York for the AL East lead. Mark Buehrle started for the Jays and was looking for his 11th win, but did not figure into the decision after he allowed four runs in 6 2/3 innings. Casey Janssen threw a scoreless top of the ninth for the win. Toronto, which prevailed despite committing three errors, will also host the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers on this homestand and is 22-17 at Rogers Centre. Toeing the rubber for the Jays tonight will be Drew Hutchison, who is 5-5 with a 3.86 earned run average. Hutchison was shaky in his last outing, a 6-4 loss at Yankee Stadium in which he walked four batters and allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. Hutchison is 1-2 in his last three starts after going 3-0 in his previous four trips to the hill. The right-hander is 1-3 in five home starts and 1-2 with a 7.24 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees. The Yankees failed to finish off last nights rally and lost their fourth straight game in the process. Solartes error was a costly one and reliever Adam Warren was pinned with the loss. Derek Jeter homered, while Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner and Roberts all ended with two hits and a run scored. David Phelps started for the Yankees and was reached for six runs and eight hits in five innings. "That was an ugly game to watch, and if youre a fan, you should probably get your money back," said Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, who went 0-for-5 and had hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games. New York will return to the Bronx for an upcoming homestand versus Boston and Tampa Bay, and hopes to improve its 22-19 road mark Wednesday. Its been almost a month since Hiroki Kuroda won a start and he will take the mound Wednesday for the Yankees. Kurodas last win was May 28 at St. Louis and he is 0-2 in four starts since. He did not figure into the decision of a 5-3 win over Baltimore last Friday and gave up two runs in six innings. The righty carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Kuroda is 4-5 with a 4.23 ERA and 1-3 in seven road starts. He has faced the Blue Jays eight times (all starts) in his career and is 4-3 with a 3.81 ERA. Kuroda made five starts against Toronto last season, going 2-2 with a 3.34 ERA. The Yankees are 5-3 against the Blue Jays this season. Boris Diaw Jersey . No, really, his head. Late in the game, the St. Louis goalie craned his neck into the air to block a shot, taking a puck square in the mask. Don Buse Jersey .com) - After Tom Brady added to an already illustrious legacy, Malcolm Butler established his by leaving the Seattle Seahawks, well, deflated. https://www.cheapsunsonline.com/ . Durant had 33 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, hit the tying 3-pointer late in regulation and made the go-ahead foul shots in overtime to lift the Thunder past the Wizards 106-105. John Wall missed a driving layup attempt at the buzzer for Washington, which was seeking its third straight win.Vancouver Canucks 3 at Winnipeg Jets 2 (SO) - It was the fifth time in eight games that the Jets have gone to overtime (1-2-2), and their 38th one-goal game of the year. The game started a stretch of five of six at home, and a difficult stretch of four in six nights, with the New York Rangers in Winnipeg Friday, and then back to back games, home to Dallas Sunday and in St. Louis Monday. Vancouver is now four points back of Dallas, the Jets five. The game was the 1,000th for Henrik Sedin and the 599th for Andrew Ladd. The first period was scoreless with the Canucks outshooting the Jets 14-9 and both Ondrej Pavelec and Eddie Lack were forced to make a number of good saves. Penalties were the story of the first as the Jets were shorthanded three times, the Canucks twice. The Canucks built momentum off three straight power plays. Andrew Ladd opened the scoring at 3:48 of the second, beating Lack high blocker from the slot, on a tape to tape pass from Bryan Little. Jacob Trouba also drew an assist. For Ladd, it was his 18th of the year and for Little his team-leading 53rd point of the year. At 9:01 of the period Evander Kane was awarded a penalty shot but fired it over the net. A face-off win and a fortunate bounce led to the Canucks goal that tied the game. A shot from the point went off a leg to an open Alexandre Burrows who scored his first of the year. Canucks outshot the Jets 10-7 in the second. Jets came out firing in the third, outshooting the Canucks 16-5. Michael Frolik redirected a pass from Olli Jokinen past Lack to restore the one goal lead for the Jets at 2:18. Keaton Ellerby also picked up an assist on the goal, Froliks 13th of the year. The Jets pressed for the two-goal lead but Lack was equal to the task leading to the tying goal, again by Burrows, and again a strange one. Wesley Person Jersey. Jannik Hansen got his stick on a pass in behind the Jets net, it deflected up in the air and over the net to the front of the goal where Burrows batted it out of mid-air to make it a 2-2 game and forcing overtime. The five minute overtime went without a whistle with chances at both ends, but no goals. Final shots were 34-33 in favour of the Jets and it was off to the shootout - that went as follows: Setoguchi no, Burrows no, Ladd no, Jensen no, Jokinen no, Chris Higgins yes.Trouba again led the Jets in ice time with a career high of 27:43. Toby Enstrom was next at 25:54, Blake Wheeler led all forwards at 23:44, Ladd 23:34. Zack Bogosian had five shots on goal. Jets were five for five on the PK and zero for four on the PP.For Paul Maurice, it was another frustrating game on a night his team needed two points and played well enough to get two points. “Its like any 2-2 hockey game. Theres going to be parts where you dont really like it. I thought we had control, a little loose in the neutral zone at times, a couple problems getting the puck out but they had the exact same game. We hemmed them in at times and up 16 in the third, so we werent sitting back, we were going. Its a loss because of the shootout. The compete was there but at the end of the day you have to win. From the start of the third we carried it, played well enough to go ahead 3-1.” Friday vs New York Rangers (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), Sunday vs Dallas (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), Monday in St. Louis (TSN Jets, TSN 1290.)
